Black and White

As an ultrasound sonographer I felt very blessed to have the opportunity to sneak a peek at this little one over 9 months to my hearts content!

The first signs MY pregnancy were so unbelievable to me! Yup... there WAS the start of a little life in there!

What excitment when I put the probe down and saw a tiny heartbeat at 6 weeks! It literally took my breath away!

During the first few months it was so crazy to see how much the little one changed each time I took a peek! By week 8 I could clearly see the limb buds! It was really starting to look like a baby!

As this little cutie grew it was fun to pick out anatomy and see it in action. Yup.. a mover and a shaker this one was!!

In the third trimester, we had the opportunity for our babe to be an ultrasound model for the demo of some new 4D ultrasound equiptment. The details were amazing. We could see lots of hair, Marks little ears and chin, and my lips and cheeks. It was already clear that she had the Grassmick nose and the Morgan eyes. How exciting to get a glimpse of what our little girl would look like!

What was really amazing is that we got to see a big yawn and the cutest in utero smile ever! Yes... She was smiling right from the start!

I feel so greatful for our black and white ultrasound experiences! I believe they truly let Mark and I connect deeper with our little one, excitedly building more and more anticipation for her arrival!

Thank you Jess!

Thank you Jess for helping document my growing belly over the last 9 months! You are a girl of many hidden talents... One of which we now know is behind the camera! I will always cherish these pictures and also the time we spent together taking them!

You are an amazing friend and I appreciate you so much! Thanks for your support through my pregnancy and your encouragement during the tough times.

I know this little one can't wait to meet her Auntie Jess!

XOXO,
Jan

Life created

Trying to concieve.

It's exciting. It's spontaneous. It's mathmatical. It's exhausting. It's emotional. It's hopes up... hopes down. It's everything.

It took us almost a year.

One night I woke up with excrutiating pain in my abdomen. I woke Mark up and said that I thought we should go into emergency... So at 2 a.m. off we went!

We checked into the Foothills Hospital and I was examined. They took some bloodwork and a urine sample. In taking my history, I explained to the nurse we had been trying to concieve but had been unsucessful. She tried to be reassuring, telling me that it does take time and that it will probably happen when we just let go, and try not worry about it. As the pain was slowly subsiding, they sent me back into the waiting room to sit and wait with Mark.

After not too long, the nurse called me back in to triage. She immediatly handed me a small white stick with 2 lines on it. From the look on my sleepless face she knew I had no idea what it meant...

With the biggest smile on her face...
she excitedly announced I was pregnant.

I was pregnant!

What emotion flooded over me! Tears streamed with joy!

I went back to the waiting room and got to tell Mark the news. Tears flowed again and we just held eachother.

Wow! What an amazing feeling!
Finally, we were going to have a baby!

Our Life... Thus Far

Wow! Time has really flown by!
It has been four and a half years since Mark and I were married, and began our life as one!

What life has been for us? What has it held thus far?

Life has been full of adventures.
We have seen many places and experienced new things together.

Life has been full of family and friends.
We have excitedly welcomed new members into our family.
We have formed new friendships that are truly treasured.
And, our circle has also expanded with many new additions. These little bundles have brought such joy to us.

Life has been busy.
With work,
with learning,
and with play.

Life has been happy,
and sad.
We have held hands through these times.

Life has expanded our family from two to three, with the addition of our furry child Bella.
She has taught us about responsibility, consistency, fun and unconditional love.

Our life has had ups,
and downs.
Through these times we have grown closer together, learning as we go.

Life has already surpassed what our dreams could hold,
and we still have more life to live.
Really, it has only just begun!

We hope that through our blog you can enjoy this ride of life with us!
